HENDRICKSONS ALL AFTERNOON

Finally a nice weekend. This afternoon it was mid 60's, bright sun, gentle breeze, water temperature 52 degrees, Grouse drumming near the banks and Hendrickson's everywhere. It doesn't get any better than this.
Fly hatches never cease to amaze me. They emerge from the gravel bottoms, surface as a dun and if their not devoured by ravenous trout fly to the cedars that line the banks. Depending on conditions, within 24-48 hours they've mated over the water, layed the eggs of the next generation and fall to the water as spinners.
Size 14 & 16 were the ticket today. I managed to land at least a dozen brook trout within 100 yards of Lobanks. Several were nice size and certainly keepers although I never do. If the spinner fall comes again tomorrow I'll move upstream some to deeper pools and see if I can entice a nice Brown Trout out from under his log.

Fly fishing time is here. Sounds like you're finally making up for the rigors of winter.

A well tied fly in the photo, by the way.
