A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Some how this years opening day of trout season wasn't the same and I'm sure never will be the same again. The cold, windy, rainy day was the same as it's been recently but the early morning trip to Gates' to see Rusty was missing. The Lodge is there, the staff of friends was still there and is being capably managed by Rusty's chosen successor Josh Greenburg. It was "the Gator" who died last December at age 54 who was not there except in spirit.
The Anglers of the ASable sponsored a "Celebration" of Rusty's life. More than 700 Anglers and friends of the AuSable gathered beneath a huge tent to listen to his closest friends tell stories of Rusty's life and re-dedicate themselves to the continuation of his life's work....the protection and preservation of our precious AuSable River.
Rusty knew us all and somehow touched our lives in a most positive way. He was a dear friend, a remarkable man, and certainly a life worthy of celebrating'
