WOODCOCK ARE HERE

The Woodcock flights are here. Yesterday afternoon the "girls", Lu and Bette had nine finds in less than two hours and there were many other wild flushes. Ofcourse I forgot my camera but I'll certainly take it today. The weather is beautiful, low this morning was 38 degrees with bright sun it will be 50 this afternoon. I hope the birds like it and hang around for a few more days.

Looks awesome, Dale. Wish we had birds coming through like that to give the dogs some honest work.

Just got back Dale. That's really interesting. We hit a woodcock flight on the same day about 600 miles west of you (and a little north - that's all I have to say about those details). Lacey got into them but she had about 9 finds in 10 minutes. The little bug suckers would just waddle away, flip over, and generally just be a pain in the ars. We just put a leash on hear after getting tired of sloshing through the woods and got out of there. We saw 15-20 in about 25 mins. With grouse around, a pod of flight weary mud suckers were not high on the menu. One other day we had at least 20 woodcock and 8 or 9 grouse with Lacey and her Son Will in about 80 mins. with 17-18 finds between them plus a few backs and relocations. What a year!
