OPENING WEEKEND

Do you believe it!!!!..............I forgot my camera.

Cool weather has arrived.  Normally opening weekend is hot but it was 37 degrees this morning and tonights forecast low is 27 with heavy frost. Hurray!

I roaded Daisy 3 miles at 10 mph just to take the edge off before turning her loose in the woods.  Luckily I was able to get her into birds early.  She pointed a beautiful brood of 7 grouse that left nearly one at a time and held steady through out..  You guessed it, I missed with both barrels and they were gone before I could reload. We tried to follow them up but they made good their escape.  I was so proud of her for handling well and staying in touch.  I'm pretty certain these are the first grouse she's ever seen as she's been run in quail trials most of her life. 

I was so worried that Daisy woud run way too big for our Michigan hunting but so far so good.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.  I can't wait to take her to Kansas to hunt with Shawn.

Lu, Bette and Daisy are sound asleep on the sofa.  Bette is in the middle, laying on her back with her legs straight up in the air.  Its' been a good day.
